FLEXBLUE marine renewable energy concept displayed at ICAPP 2011

DCNS was among the exhibitors at the 2011 International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants held in Nice from 2 to 5 May and organised by French nuclear energy society SFEN.

The event brought together over 450 specialists including the world’s leading developers of nuclear reactors for the civil sector.

ICAPP 2011 gave DCNS an opportunity to present the Flexblue concept and a scale model of a proposed plant using ocean thermal energy conversion, or OTEC. Flexblue is a seafloor nuclear power plant based on a carefully demilitarised version of plants powering French nuclear warships. Dozens of scientists, engineers and university lecturers and students visited the DCNS stand to enquire about the projects’ technical and economic aspects. The contacts established in the course of these exchanges enrich the work in progress and broaden the outlook for development partnerships.
