While l’Hydroptère DCNS is on stand-by in Los Angeles waiting for a favourable weather window for her transpacific record attempt, a new French SME has announced its support to the flying trimaran. A strong signal welcomed by the team of Alain Thébault and the title partner, DCNS, world leader in naval defence and innovator in energy.
ATHEOS, a consultancy ranked among the top companies on the market of information system security in France, will accompany l’Hydroptère DCNS as an “Official Partner” for a period of three years. Founded in 2002, the company has a turnover of 20 million Euros and employs over 130 consultants in France.
“This is a double support we hope to bring to Alain Thébault and his team. First on the sporting side as we become “Official Partner” of l’Hydroptère DCNS, but also on the technological side. We are committed to implement our know-how to preserve the digital heritage of this French technological jewel and especially against leakage of sensitive information, whether from a technical or human error, or from robbery. Our goal will be to secure the technology of the team so that the boat remains for a long time the fastest trimaran on foils” says Michel Van Den Berghe, CEO of ATHEOS.
“Beyond our shared passion for sailing, I find in ATHEOS values that I appreciate a lot and which have been leading the program of l’Hydroptère DCNS for a long time: expertise, innovation and desire to take up challenges. We trust ATHEOS for the protection of our sensitive data in a reliable way. The fruit of 25 years of work with sea trials and digital simulations, a knowledge that greatly interests people seeking to “fly on the water”. These are very complex issues. With no real understanding of the structural strains, for example, or of the flight dynamics, the road can be very long”, says Alain Thébault, designer and pilot of l’Hydroptère DCNS.
“We are delighted to have a new partner within the team l’Hydroptère DCNS. This support is as strong in our view as the growth plan of DCNS – which aims to double its turnover between 2010 and 2020 – and is related to numerous partnerships with innovative SMEs. We welcome with great pleasure these new supporters who aim to secure l’Hydroptère DCNS the same way the Group aims to secure and enhance the oceans”, says Christophe Lachnitt, communications director of DCNS.
While the Olympics in London are in progress, the team of l’Hydroptère DCNS finalizes its preparation and conducts sailing sessions at sea in Los Angeles. A favourable weather window could be possible by the middle of August … The flying trimaran is ready to fly for her first oceanic record attempt.
