Sea water heat exchangers
The main purpose of sea water exchanger is to evacuate the heat produced by the submarine propulsion system outside the hull.
Presentation
The principle consists in transferring calories from the fresh water cooling loop to sea water from the outside of the ship.
With almost a century of experience and know-how, DCNS provides a range of exchangers adapted to the needs of the different client Navies, for conventional as well as nuclear propelled submarines.
Key features
DCNS’ sea water heat exchangers accomodate every specific operational requirement for a submarine, that is :
- corrosion and fouling resistance
- compactnedness and ship integration
- resistance to maximum operating depth, shocks and environmental conditions
- reliability
- thermal exchange performance by limiting pressure drop
- acoustic discretion
